Opening Ceremony
Family Heart Foundation Founder and CEO, Katherine Wilemon, along with Co-Host, Dr. Joshua Knowles, took the stage to welcome everyone to the tenth annual Family Heart Global Summit.
Dr. Knowles excitedly pointed out that we were back in Dallas, Texas, and it is the only place to hold more than one Family Heart Global Summit. “It’s arguably the most important place in the world for people with familial hypercholesterolemia and high lipoprotein(a),” said Dr. Knowles.
“This is really a historic opportunity to hear from patients who have been involved in ushering in the golden age of lipid lowering and the scientists who have made so much possible.”

Family Heart Ambassador and prior Family Heart Chairman of the Board, Stacey Lane, was then welcomed on stage to share her lived experiences. She proudly declared that she was the first in her family to reach senior citizen status thanks to the work of scientists sitting in that very room.
“Due to the work of Drs. Brown, Goldstein, and Hobbs, I have every expectation to grow old with my husband, see my children as adults, and meet all my grandchildren – something in my wildest dreams I never thought was possible. The fear that has trailed my family for generations is gone.”
