6 Ways to Give Back During the Holidays

Tips from the Family Heart Foundation

Giving is good for you. It’s scientifically proven. Some people get that satisfaction by writing a check or simply clicking to donate – which is great! But some people like to make their giving meaningful and more impactful. Here are a few ways to do just that.

1. Make a Donation on Giving Tuesday

The Thanksgiving season is a time to gather with family and friends and count our blessings. It’s a time where we reflect on how grateful we are for what we have and consider those who aren’t as fortunate. That’s how Giving Tuesday came to be.

We make it simple to give to the Family Heart Foundation on Giving Tuesday. Your gift is tax-deductible and, more importantly, goes toward helping this community save more families and more hearts.

2. Establish a Monthly Donation

Between family, friends, work, pets, hobbies, holidays – it’s easy to feel like adding one more thing to your plate is just not possible. If you’re one of these busy people, you might consider becoming a monthly donor. It’s easy to set up one time and it’s automatically processed every month.

This eliminates the stress on your bank account because instead of giving $120 once a year, you’re giving just $10 a month. This helps with budgeting and maintaining your giving all year, and it’s also tax deductible!

3. Honor a Loved One

When we lose a loved one, it can be hard to cope or know what to do – especially during the holidays. Many people decide to honor that person by trying to help others in their name. The Family Heart Foundation offers the opportunity to donate in honor of someone who made an impact on your life so you can impact others. Plus, like the other ways to give, this is also tax deductible.

4. Create Your Own Fundraiser

Are you known for your full house on Thanksgiving or your twinkling holiday yard display? You could consider turning your annual holiday gathering into a chance to give by asking your guests to support a cause you care about while celebrating the holidays together. Create your own fundraiser and you’ll be surprised by how many people want to give.

5. Give Gifts for a Cause

You know what feels even better than donating? Buying presents for your friends and family that also give back – it’s like a double win for happiness. The Family Heart Store is growing with more designs all the time. You can start shopping and giving back here.

6. Check with Your Boss

Many companies have charity matching programs. If you plan on donating $50, for example, you can send the receipt to your company, and they donate another $50. The secret is asking. Many people have a corporate matching program at their job and don’t know it. When you’re ready to make your donation to the Family Heart Foundation, ask your boss if they can match it – and this is tax deductible for everyone!
