Tips and Tricks to Raise Money and Awareness
You’ve decided to join the Race to Save More Families More Hearts. You have a great idea, and you’re excited to raise awareness and funds! Time for the fun to begin!
With just a few tips you can have a fun race and maximize your impact.
So what can you do to make sure you’re making the most of your month of racing? Here we have a few tips and tricks to reach your goal and save more families and more hearts!
1. Make your race page YOUR page
Once you register for the Race, you can create your own fundraising page. Make it your own! Add a photo of you, your family, someone you’re racing for, or something that screams you! You also have a place to tell your story. Let people know why this cause is important to you. That will make it important to them.
2. Share your story
The quickest and easiest way to get people to visit your page is to post it on your social media. Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, or an up-and-coming app, one post with a link to your page is the fastest way to reach large amounts of potential supporters and donors.
3. Check with your boss
Many large companies offer matching programs for employees raising money for charity. It’s a good idea to check with your HR Department to see if your company has a matching program. If it does, you can tell your supporters that their donations are actually worth double!
4. Watch out for matching gifts
Speaking of matching, large-gift donors often like to spice things up near the end of fundraisers. Keep an eye out for possible donor matching and let your network know. Everyone likes to know they’re getting more for their money – especially when it’s for charity.

5. Ask directly – it might surprise you
Think of all the people you know and how you communicate with them. Maybe you call your family members every Sunday. Perhaps you have a book club that meets once a month. You might be part of several Facebook groups that share your interests. These people care about you, so they’ll likely care about your cause. Asking people directly for donations might surprise you.
6. Encourage people to donate monthly
The Race to Save More Families More Hearts doesn’t have to end in December. By becoming monthly donors, you and your donors can support the mission and research of the Family Heart Foundation all year long. It’s a simple process and feels good to know you’re giving each month without any extra effort on your part.
