Advocating on Capitol Hill
FH Advocates for Awareness headed to Capitol Hill to make sure their elected representatives #KnowFH.
the Family Heart Foundation® trained a new group of FH Advocates June 3rd-4th in Washington D.C. After two days of intense preparation, these dedicated volunteers visited 24 Congressional offices on Capitol Hill to raise awareness of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) as a public health concern impacting thousands of families.

the Family Heart Foundation now has 60 trained FH Advocates in 26 states. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to take action in their communities and at a national level to improve the understanding, diagnosis and care of individuals with FH across the US.
“Being a part of the Family Heart Foundation means shedding light on the shadow that has been cast over our families for more than 3 generations – shifting the power of my disease from victim to advocate.”
– Sarah, FH Advocate
The FH Advocates for Awareness program included:
“the Family Heart Foundation is a resource for my condition that gives me additional support and knowledge to help educate others in my community.”
– Jen, FH Advocate
“As an FH Advocate, I am part of a powerful team that changes mindsets in the medical community and among patients through advocacy and community awareness!”
