Mar 19-20 – CDC Committee Meeting to review application for FH ICD-10 code!

In January the Family Heart Foundation and NLA jointly filed an application with the National Center for Health Statistics proposing distinct ICD-10 codes (International Classification of Diseases) for Heterozygous and Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia. The ICD-10 Coordinationation and Maintenance Committee will review the application at their meeting. If approved, HeFH and HoFH ICD-10 codes will be effective October 1, 2015. FH ICD-10 codes would translate into more appropriate therapies for patients and trigger screening of family members.
